I want to have a drug free labor but I have high blood pressure. The doctors have been monitoring it but everytime I go in it seems higher. Will I be able to have a drug free labor or due to high blood pressure would I have to get an epidural or c section so that I don’t stress and make my blood pressure rise even more. Has anyone ha high blood pressure and still had a drug free labor.

Unfortunately, your high blood pressure does mean you have more chances of a c-section. I had high blood pressure, and that caused the baby’s blood pressure to drop, which meant I had to have an emergency c-section.

You should ask your doctor for tips of controlling your blood pressure. Diet, medication?, exercise, drink more water etc. Tell the doc how you feel about not wanting a c-section, and not wanting an epidural.

Most places that do drug testing will also either observe the test, or will check the temperature of the sample after you urinate. Refrigerated pee will be a little cold to be acceptable. And if your clean now why don’t you just stay clean instead of having to worry about drug tests?

Was it a waterbirth? Would you try it again?

For me i was in the tub for 2 cycles(40 mins) and the rest of the time i was in the rocking chair. For some reason i found it easier to cope with the pain in the chair, as for the bed i couldn’t handle the pain there at all! So just move around and try different things and see what works for you. Some people say walking helps, but for me i could barely make it to the bathroom. As for trying it again, yes that’s what i plan on doing this time around too, and maybe staying in the tub longer. But birthing i would prob do in the bed.
