Brian “Head” Welch, former lead-guitarist for Korn, a controversial nu-metal band, is now a Christian and no longer does drugs (meth) and alcohol. He says in this interview on Fox News that he has found God.

Amazon.com says this in an Editorial Review of his book, “Save Me from Myself: How I Found God, Quit Korn, Kicked Drugs, and Lived to Tell My Story”:

In February 2005, more than 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California, watched as Brian “Head” Welch–the former lead guitarist of the controversial Nu–metal band Korn–was saved by Jesus Christ. The event set off a media frenzy as observers from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light.

Now, in this courageous memoir, Head talks for the first time about his shocking embrace of God and the tumultuous decade that led him into the arms of Jesus Christ. Taking the reader backstage with Korn, Head tells the inside story of life in the band and how his rock star lifestyle resulted in an all–consuming addiction to methamphetamines. Head writes openly about the tour bus mayhem of Ozzfest and The Family Values tour, while providing a candid look at how the routine of recording and traveling placed him in a cycle of addiction that he could not break on his own.

Speaking honestly about his addiction, Head details his struggles with the drug that ultimately led him to seek a higher power. Despite his numerous attempts to free himself from his addiction, nothing–not even the birth of his daughter–could spur him to kick meth for good. Here he addresses how, with the help of God, he emerged from his dangerous lifestyle and found a path that was not only right for his daughter, it was right for him. In addition, he discusses the chaotic end to his time in Korn, and how his newfound faith has changed his perspective on his past.

STORY: Friends who knew the B.C. pilot who was caught flying a helicopter carrying 150 kilograms of marijuana into the U.S. say he was spirited young man mixed up in the wrong crowd.

Samuel Brown, 24, was arrested on allegations he attempted to drop off the huge load of B.C. bud in Washington state.

He was charged and held at the Spokane County jail, but reportedly hanged himself with bed sheets from his cell on Feb. 27.

Upon hearing the news of Brown’s suicide, friends rallied around the Revelstoke, B.C., native, fondly remembering him as a soft-spoken adventure seeker.

“I can’t believe that a kid with so much life force would do something like that…. It was shocking,” John Buffery said.

Mitch Scott, another friend, said Brown was a popular man who had dreams of starting his own helicopter business.
Mitch Scott (left) and John Buffery remembered their friend as a gentle spirit who was always in search of an adventure.

“He had a lot to live for. He was very popular kid around town. I think he had big dreams of doing really cool things.”

All were unwavering in their belief that Brown was not involved with gangs.

“Sam, in my mind, wasn’t this felon in the United States,” Buffery said. “Sam Brown was a kid we hung out with who was really fun to be around, and it’s shocking, a really sad thing.”

Brown’s father was too distraught to speak on Tuesday, but he told the Nelson Daily News last week that his son was used as a pawn in the cross-border drug deal and that he took the fall for somebody else.

In total, eight people were arrested and now seven face charges after police broke up the cross-border drug smuggling operation, which used helicopters to fly marijuana and ecstasy to remote U.S. landing pads in exchange for cocaine and cash.

Police seized about 340 kg of marijuana, 83 kg of cocaine and 240,000 ecstasy tablets, plus a significant amount of cash, guns, two helicopters and other equipment, officials from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the RCMP said at a joint news conference in Seattle on Tuesday morning.

Video Lyrics:
…How about a positive LSD story, that would be news-worthy. Don’t you think…? Anybody think that…? Just once, to hear a positive LSD story…? Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves… Here’s Tom with the weather.

Mexico Media on High Alert After Drug-Gang Attack on Televisa

Editors at Televisa, the world’s most popular Spanish-language network, were having a lively news meeting in the northern Mexico city of Monterrey when they heard a series of pops followed by a thunderous explosion. Running outside, the editors realized the top breaking news item had come straight to them. The pops were bullets sprayed from Kalashnikov automatic rifles directly into the faÇade of their offices. The blast was from a fragmentation grenade. Next to the debris was a message scrawled on cardboard: "Stop just broadcasting us. Also broadcast the narco politicians," it said.

The Jan. 6 assault on Televisa’s offices was the latest in a series of attacks on Mexico’s media as the nation writhes in an orgy of drug-related bloodshed. Out of a record 5,300 deaths from beheadings, assassinations and massacres last year, eight of them were murdered Mexican journalists, making Mexico the most dangerous country for their trade in the hemisphere. Furthermore, many reporters in cities on the front lines of the drug war say they are systematically threatened, beaten and offered bribes because of their coverage of organized crime. (See pictures of the war on crime in Mexico City.)

But even by such appalling standards, the Televisa attack stood out in the way the assailants so blatantly tried to dictate the coverage of Mexico’s television giant, which is probably the most powerful media organization south of the Rio Grande. Earning about 75% of Mexico’s broadcast advertising, Televisa has long had an overwhelming influence on the nation’s political life. Presidents, lobbyists and rising politicians all fight hard for space on its nightly noticiero, which regularly breaks leading stories. "Televisa has the equivalent political clout of ABC, NBC and CBS combined," says Mexican media investigator Raul Trejo. "When the narcos threaten this organization, they are showing they see no limits in their power.
