Drug Use Isn’t Criminal
March 29th, 2010 | by admin |
I do seem to have conflicting views on this subject in this video; I say we need to tackle the drugs trade but also seem to condone the legalisation of drugs. Substance abuse cause huge problems across society and can affect the smallest most hum-drum family to the biggest most powerful nation. The problem however is not the recreational users who take a pill or two at the weekend. It is the trade that should be targeted and not the individual users but to patronise these casual users by saying their use of recreational drugs is an illness is not going to combat anything. Legalisation of drugs is one of the only realistic ways of combating addiction and the shady world around drug trafficking, dealing and usage. It is the society around the drugs that are the problem, not the drugs themselves. To also claim that these drugs are more dangerous than alcohol or tobacco are quite frankly false. Look at the statistics http://www.drugscope.org.uk/resources/faqs/faqpages/how-many-people-die-from-drugs.htm
I also do not believe that legalisation would vastly increase drug usage. All the people who want to take drugs have found out ways of doing it by now, I dont think any flood gates will be opened, they will just stop being labelled the criminals.

It doesn’t matter …
It doesn’t matter what you inhale. Any undissolved particulates in the lungs can and will lead to cancer.
This Government do not mind you killing yourself providing the revenue/cost is worthwhile.
As most drug takers are self mutilating scumbags who earn little if nothing for the state, its too costly to allow.

@bawsaq Just the …
@bawsaq Just the kind of reply i would expect from another drug taking worshiper. Keep smoking your drugs and breaking the law. As its people like you that my taxes pay for when your in prison or in re hab. As for knowing nothing about drugs i think your wrong there but i am not lowering myself to your standards to show you breaking the law to get high is wrong. You keep on doing it you keep breaking the law. Have a happy lawless life and one day you will see how silly taking drugs are…

@AUTORECOVERYUK: no …
@AUTORECOVERYUK: no it isnt dont be stupid no one who wants to take drugs lets the law stop them. no one has died directly because of smoking grass simply because it’s nowhere near as toxic or carcinogenic as tobacco FACT. Do some research it always amazes me how people think they know everything about drugs just because they DONT
take them.

pretty much agree’d …
pretty much agree’d with you on the legalization business of drugs. Also on the recreational use of them. The statement that addiction to these drugs is an illness does hold some truth, when it is an actual addiction rather than casual use. But whose to say which is which. Its tricky. You can really only go case to case with this one.

@stefanscally And …
@stefanscally And at 19 years of age i dont think you are really old enough or mature enough to think you know more than me. I have been to more countries than you have had hot dinners seen death and destruction been in riots and places where you would your pants and want to run home to mummy. So when your a little older and seen a bit more than MTV Google and You Tube. Come back and tell me to think about opening my mouth. But when you do make sure you are a man not a student smokin pot

@stefanscally …
@stefanscally Perhaps thats because its LEGAL to smoke tobaco so more people smoke tobaco . So more law abiding people who smoke tobaco might get ill or die from their LEGAL habit. I take it from your strong reaction you are one of the pot smokers who thinks its good to smoke an illegal product in the UK. Well good luck to you , i take my hat off to all you drug smokers. You keep breaking the law and driving while high . Then when you get caught or have a crash dont ask the NHS for help..

why is there this …
why is there this hysteria about illegal drugs? why do peoples minds have such a fear and active hate for recreational drug use?
there are terrible consequences if a person cannot use them correctly, but the main causes of drug addiction and misuse is that society wont edjucatate people on how to use them possitively, because they can be used positivly!
it is the governments fault that drugs are a problem, because it is the government who made them illegal

u should think a …
u should think a lot harder b4 opening ur mouth 2 speak, 1 could make ur arguments and do it without ur ignorance and lies
ignorance: simply because the government makes a drug ilegal dosnt make it worse than a legal 1, is the government some all knowing god, would you say the same if you lived in russia or germany 50 years ago. (say u would, make my day)
lies: its not like saying more women give birth than men, tobaco kills more tobaco users than pot or ecstacy kills pot or ecstacy users. tit

It’s in no way …
It’s in no way similar to stealing/shoplifting. It harms no one, I pay for what I smoke, and for your information, I use it as pain relief and an effective anti inflammatory, (much as glaucoma patients do).
I smoke it regularly because cortical steroids give me brittle bones, water retention and at one point sent me into a state of self destructive psychosis, which took months to recover from and lost me my job.

@pamew Perhaps …
@pamew Perhaps thats because what you are doing is illegal. How can you compare an illegal action of drug taking to a legal action of drinking. Its like saying shop lifting is the same as paying for an item or driving a stolen car is the same as driving one thats legally yours. You may think smoking cannabis is ok but by smoking it regularly shows its addictive & you either smoke it to get high like drink gets you drunk or you smoke it because you cant go without it. Its a drug your hooked on it

“All drug users are …
“All drug users are ill ”
That’s a blanket statement, I smoke cannabis regularly and I’m perfectly healthy both mentally and physically, as are many people I know.
I find it funny that anyone who smokes the odd joint is seen as a social pariah, yet drinking; far more harmful, is seen as sociable in its nature.

COMPLETE IDIOT. He …
COMPLETE IDIOT. He is also a student teacher so god only knows what he is teacing his pupils. All drug users are ill or they would not be doing it. Its a drug its addictive they are breaking the law taking the drugs. More people die from smoking because more people smoke than take drugs. Its like saying more women give birth than men. As a student teacher you need to look at yourself and perhaps stop taking drugs yourself. You are a silly little boy who only knows what books and google tell you

Yeah I think that …
Yeah I think that calling drug use an ‘illness’ just gives people another excuse or defense.
Legalizing and regulating drugs and providing them at clinics would protect people from the impurities and such in illegal drugs, and the overdosing problem. If they were provided in clean small doses in supervised environment it would still be terrible, but preferable. It would not be a terrible idea for dealing with addicts, at least they are less likely to die from their addiction.
