How can I get her to stop drug abuse?
February 21st, 2010 | by admin |I know someone who will not stop drug abuse and when they do its only temporary. What can I say and do to stop them. I know its a decision that they have to make, but how can I assist.
When trying to get some one to stop using drugs you have to convince them to do it for themselves. If someone is trying to stop using drugs for a loved one it usually dose not last

To can try and intervention, or suggest sending them to a rehabilitation center. Try to get them to talk to their doctor, have a heart to heart talk to them about it..Drug addiction is a very hard thing to dela with and seeing soeone you care about go down that path is hurtful…

In my opinion, you can not GET her to stop. She has to want to stop on her own, she will have to help herself. Just give her LOTS of support, mentally and emotionally. If she needs you by her side, be there. Never encourage her to do them. When the time is right, during one of your serious conversation about her addiction, let her know how her drug abuse hurts you and family members too, not just herself. but telling her constantly can only push her into doing drugs more.

You cannot stop someone else from using drugs. It is similar to alcoholism, the person must want to stop for themselves. They have to admit there is a problem and seek help. Also realize that the drug use may eventually cause problems for you, since there is always the likelihood that the person may be using them while with you. If they are arrested, you will also be arrested. There is an old saying, "You are the company you keep." The only thing you can do is encourage them to seek help. You could join a support group for people who have friends or family who use drugs.

You need to make them realize what they are doing to themselves. Remind them that there are people in this world that care about them that would be heartbroken if they would lost to drugs. Remind them that there is so much in life to enjoy when you are sober. Try to get them to commit to a drug rehab center. There are many different types of treatment for all types of addiction. There is a treatment for your friend. Like you said, it is a decision for them, but your advice is how you can assist. They need help. They need treatment.
