Is drug abuse and distribution a serious issue in Southern West Virginia?

March 7th, 2010 | by admin |

I hve heard about it here and there, and I cannot believe it. How can drugs come into a place like that? Oh and what type of drugs are most commonly abused?

Drug abuse and distribution is a serious crime throughout the United States. Drug abuse may be hard to detect, but distribution can be punished very easily.

i grew up in a very nice area of southern west virginia and yes it is. like the rest of the u.s. prescription drugs seem to be the most abused but a lot of coca in and heroin travel right up interstate 77 from the south. i know of at least a couple of doctors who have went to prison for distribution of prescription drugs. my brother who now lives in Ohio and is a heroin addict first started using oxycontin (synthetic heroin) when he moved back southern west virginia for a short period of time.

What would make you think that "a place like" Southern West Virginia would not have a problem with drugs. I am from Southwest VA, we are well educated and hard working people. If you consider the drug abuse and distribution of drugs, you must do research. What is the major money industry of Southern WV and SWVA? COAL. If you are a coal miner, you are more prone to accidents and injuries. Thus, the prescribing of pain medication. Opiates are the most addictive drugs on the market.
