Looking for books/novels about drug addiction?
February 21st, 2010 | by admin |My favorites are My best friend Leonard, A million Little Pieces, Tweak, Smack, Beautiful Boy, etc. I also loved Random Family, Bright Shiny Morning, She’s Come Undone, Me & Emma. Does anyone have any suggestions of books like these? I have read every book by these authors. I am looking in particular for a GOOD novel about heroin addiction. Also, are Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass 2 seperate books? Thanks
"Alice in Wonderland" is the first book, and the sequel is "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Saw There"
Here are some excellent novels about drug addiction. They are captivating and realistic portrayals:
"Naked Lunch" by William Bourroughs
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S Thompson
"Wonderland Avenue" by Danny Sugarman
"A Skanner Darkly" by Phillip K Dick
"Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley
"Turn On, Tune In, Or Drop Out" by Timothy Leary
"Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier" by Ishmael Beah
"Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh
"Requiem for a Dream" by Hubert Selby
"Basketball Diaries" by Jim Carroll
"I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie" by Pamela desBarres
"The Heroin Diairis: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star" by Nikki Sixx
"Party Monster" by James St James

Go Ask Alice. The author is anonymous as it is supposedly the diary of a young girl in the 60’s or 70’s. I read it when I was in the 4th grade lol my teacher had a fit when she saw it. It was also very popular with the delinquents =) at my alternative high school, which says a lot because the only book of paper they knew about was Bambu.

Danielle Westbrook – The Other Side. It’s an autobiography, but deals with Cocaine addiction.

They’re two separate books; Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to Alice in Wonderland.
