While “tough love” …
While “tough love” works it walks a fine line. You can do the right thing and still fail miserably at helping the addict. Don’t just trust you gut instincts, talk to professionals that deal with addicts daily. Many of the professionals are former addicts and can give you advice and help beyond your own capabilities. This is a beautiful story of people communicating and working through a horrific problem. Never judge an addict too quickly…

The Mother was wide awake, this was the only thing she could do to help her daughter. I’ve been there, my son has been there, believe me this mother is very courageous, it takes a lot for a Mum to do this.

This Mom gets me so …
This Mom gets me so mad because she closes the door on her. that just makes her think that no one gives a about her and shell start her addiction again with no care.
If i was the mom or dad, i will never let my darter or son go out in the street like she did with suffer of addiction. I will never ever let my kids go out and sell there body over drugs. That is the most sickest thing that a parent can do.
Drugs are health problems, not criminal problems. Wake Up

I glad for her but god-this book is for oprah and rich woman who need a good cry or people who have never dealt with addiction.I think my story aint much compared to some and that made it hard for me in the begging comparing myself to others and saying-maybe i aint that bad.But my story would blow this out of the water.I wish i came from a great home-had insurence or money to get treatment and got sober 15 years earlier than i did.I should write a book and speak up family in tow.

truth is there’s no …
truth is there’s no such thing as alcoholism/addiction. so-called alcoholic drinking/using is just one expression of a compulsive personality. the key to lasting and satisfying recovery, therefore, isn’t simply to stop drinking and using but, rather, to move beyond the entire compulsive lifestye. takes more work than your typical recovery program but well worth it in the end. anything short of this will leave you struggling with depression and anxiety, as well as relapse.
