perks of being a wallflower by stephen chobowsky, not as much as go ask alice which i love.

but if you want a good teen book with drugs, sex, lesbians, gays and all the issues of the world summed into one, and not a regualr teen book, like nc-17 teen book, i suggest the hot boys, fast girls series by kylie adamas.

I don’t know what you consider ‘young adult’ but i read a million little pieces by james frey when i was 13 and it is incredible. oh, the absolute best is the electric kool aid acid test by tom wolfe. but then again, it depends on what you define as ‘young adult’

    Junk by Melvin Bragg

It’s not what you’d call ‘young adult’ as it’s full of gratuitous swearing and sex and stuff, but Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh is an excellent book, though as it’s written in Scottish dialect, you have to read it keeping in mind a Scottish accent in your head, or it doesn’t immediately make sense.
