Bias against drugs and drug users?

February 23rd, 2010 | by admin |

Why does it seem that people hate drugs and drug users. I have looked on a couple straight edge forums and some members promote violence against drug users. This hate is, in my eyes, similar to racism because it is reasonless hate. Comments would be apprciated.

The people who have that kind of hate are going to be the people who grew up with or lost family to hard core drug addicts. Not just the occasional recreational user, but a hard addict… The people who are abusive if they dont get their drugs, and abusive when they do.. the people who are spending their rent money on drugs… and so on.

The general bias against them is because that is the only stereotype (the addicted abusive type). And unfortunately, that stereotype is based on a lot of reality. A lot of illegal drugs (as well as some legal drugs) are chemically addictive to an extreme point. Not a whole lot of people can recreationally use cocaine or crack or heroine on even a semi regular basis without becoming addicted. Once addicted, it becomes a downward spiral as the person keeps chasing their high, while avoiding the severe pain that comes from detoxing – and that extreme pain is often what causes the addict to become abusive when they dont get their drugs, and why they spend the rent money on the drugs, and why they miss their kid’s ball game or recital to get drugs.

    Its not reasonless hate.
The reason is it is against the law and we have to walk down the street staring at some dude injecting a needle in his arm. After which he dumps the Aids infected needle in the gutter for some kid to pick up and play with.

Is that not a reason? or do u want more.

i dont condone violence though. But the hate has reason

We have given "discrimination" a bad name. Sometimes it’s a good thing. We discriminate against behaviors we don’t want to be involved in and don’t want around us. It isn’t reasonless. It’s making a choice but I would also discriminatete against people who promote violence. I don’t want to be around them either.
