Mar Roxas was elected into the Senate in 2004 with approximately 20 million votes, the most obtained by a candidate in any Philippine election. Armed with this mandate, he forged on with advocacies championed since his days as a Congressman of the first district of Capiz and later on as Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Well-known as Mr. Palengke, Mar has been at the forefront of issues extending beyond consumer protection and empowerment. Long before he became Senator, he worked quietly to push forward the peoples agenda on quality education, livelihood opportunities through small and medium enterprises, health care, and transparency and accountability in government.
Mar made his mark in the House of Representatives where, against pressure from different interests, particularly multinational drug companies, he fought for the right of every Filipino to quality affordable medicines, a personal advocacy adopted since the death of his brother from a lingering illness at the young age of 32.
This crusade was founded on the Presyong Tama, Gamot Pampamilya program, launched during his tenure as Trade and Industry Secretary, which benefited millions of Filipinos direly in need of effective, low-cost medicines. In the Senate, the crusade continued with Mars authorship of Republic Act No. 9502, or the Universally Accessible, Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008, signed into law in June 7, 2008.
Mar is now fighting for the proper implementation of the law, and considers the Senates approval of a P1-billion budget in 2009 for the parallel importation of cheap medicines in 2009 as an important step in that direction.
Mar chairs the Senate Committees on Trade and Industry, and Education, which sustain his passion to keep the economy and young peoples minds, both robust and competitive. He is also co-chair of the Congressional Oversight Committee on the Electronic Commerce Law.

@miriamquiamco , Hi …
@miriamquiamco , Hi ! I do respect your opinion. But I believe my vote will not be wasted for Sen. Gordon. Marami kaming naniniwala sa pagbabago mula sa kanya. I’d been waiting for him to run in the presidential race since way back then. Si Mr. Gibo Teodoro ngayon lang dumating. We still have 4 months pa. Actually sa totoo lang kung di tatakbo si Gordon kay Teodoro din ako.(2nd. choice ko). Gordon should not give up his candidacy . Meron siyang makinarya matagal na. no wasted vote for him.

Don’t waste your vote on Gordon, he will never win without a well-organized political machinery. Doon nalang tayo kay Gibo kasi meron siyang political machinery and he is like Gordon, a man of brilliance and great ideas for governance. This is just a suggestion, unless of course, you are making a political statement. Gordon should give up his candidacy, and endorse Teodoro, his followers can then vote for Gibo, masasayang lang ang mga boto nyo, kailangan talaga nga makinarya.

To you Mar Roxas, …
To you Mar Roxas, your only chance to become President is to help Nonoy win then impeach him after two or three years… because i’m sure if in case nonoy wins, he cannot effectively manage this country .. not even 40 percent compared to the achievement of PGMA. . . . PRESTO MAGING PRESIDENTE KA NA! !…
TALAKAYAN ?.. Kulilat kayo ni Gibo. . Puro pambobola lang ang sagot nyo sa mga tanong. .

Hindi passion ni …
Hindi passion ni Mar Roxas ang tumulong… He is a Doctor of speculation…. Alam mo bang kaya niya bigyan ng masamang kahulugan ang mga magandang ginawa ni PGMA?. . Example Typhoon ONDOY, . Sec. Gibo was on the field checking ang distributing goods to the victims… Sabi ni Mar Roxas,” Walang ginawang tulong ang gobyernong Arroyo.” “Kasalanan ni Arroyo kaya bumaha”… . KAWAWA NAMAN ,…. NA PRANING SA KAGUSTUHANG MAMUNO SA BANSA..

CIA Chief Panetta on instruction from Pres Obama went to the Philippines to invite the outgoing president and the “incoming ?”…..
Well, PGMA and Bayani Fernando (surprise? togetther with Mayor Marides Fernando) , was obliged to go to Washington.

Please Google: “Philippines next president ” and a continuing survey of a US based website shows Bayani leading..

It’s too bad 7 …
It’s too bad 7 minutes lost in the interview asking all about Korina and Ping Lacson.. She should ask more about his agenda than his relationship and Lacson. If you want to listen about Legacy and pre-need, it starts at 7:55. Poor Mar Roxas…bell rung.
