Does anyone know of any drug free cure for ulcers?
March 7th, 2010 | by admin |A colleague at work is in pain with ulcers and prior to this has been sickly and has been taking several drugs – it’s one thing after the next
. I read that some drugs may increase the chances of having an ulcer which if it’s true may be what’s happened with her having been on so many drugs for so long. She’s been given some drugs for the ulcer and she’s wary. I was wondering if anyone knows of drug free treatment for ulcers, foods she should avoid and foods she should eat? Thank you in advance:).
If she really has an ulcer (if her doctor diagnosed it), it is important that she take the prescribed medicine to treat it. The medicine they prescribed is probably a combination of antibiotics to kill the bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori (a bacteria known to cause ulcers) and a medicine to decrease how much acid is in her stomach. The ulcer has to heal before any other remedies will help her avoid future ulcers.
Also, please remember that "natural" does not always mean safe. Many medications are from natural sources: aspirin is made from the bark of a tree, many cancer-fighting medicines are made from plants and other natural sources, etc. There are many "natural" remedies like St. John’s Wort (which people use to treat depression) that interact with other medicines and can have a lot of side effects. If you friend wants to take natural remedies, she should really discuss them with her doctor so her doctor can let her know of any dangerous interactions that may be possible.

well, sometimes they go away on their own, but it’s really not wise to mess with ulcers
a ruptured gastric ulcer can be fatal
eat foods that don’t irritate them, but foods or herbal remedies won’t cure them
ulcers are caused by bacteria (h. pylori), and are most often treated with proton-pump inhibitors which reduce the acidity of the stomach to allow it to heal with less irritation
don’t mess with ulcers though, take the medicine

Try some manuka honey with a high UMF number and apply it to the ulcers… drink more plain water.

Stay away from caffiene, cola, chocolate, spicy, greasy, and acidic foods. And take the medication when and how your Dr. prescribed it.
