Did Condi Rice once state that pharmaceutical drugs in Canada are too unsafe for Americans to buy?

If so, do you agree or disagree?

yes, they don’t own stock in the Canadian pharmaceutical companies, so it would be a very unsafe investment.

Consumer rights don’t necessarily apply to international purchases. I buy my allergy mist from Canada at 1/3 the cost, but if I was on a life supporting medication, I wouldn’t dare.

I hoestly never heard any reference to pharmaceuticals come from Condi. I don’t let any politicin sway my personal purchases. I rely on common sense and an ability to smell something too good to be true from a mile away.

Good question Chi Guy, it is a break from the Age discrimination, racism and gender bias infecting Y!A politics as of late.

Not exactly. I believe she was talking about drugs purchased over the internet, which were not very well regulated by either government.

If I happened to be visiting Canada, I’d feel pretty safe going to a pharmacy there. But, I wouldn’t buy perscription drugs over the internet, regardless of where they were suposedly coming from.

she is part of the Bush Administration which has been in bed with the big pharmaceutical companies since day one.

maybe she got paid under the table by some of the members of the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, which has mounted a multi-million dollar campaign to prevent importation of prescription drugs from across the northern borders.

The pharmaceuticals in Canada are identical to those in the USA, often coming from the same manufacturer, just repackaged for the Canadian market, which has to have the information in French….don’t get me started.

In many cases they are made IN the USA. Many are made in Canada under license from the pharmaceutical company.

Buying drugs over the internet is dangerous and stupid, as most of the websites sell counterfeit drugs and who knows what else. There was a period of time when "internet pharmacies" were doing legitimate business….they were a very lucrative offshoot of a brick and mortar pharmacy. The problem was they had to have a Canadian doctor vet the prescription, which is both illegal and unethical if you don’t actually examine the patient or know anything about their health problems. Lots of Canadian doctors got in trouble for basically rubber stamping US prescriptions, and most of the legit internet pharmacies have now been shut down.

The reason drug prices are so much higher in the USA is political, not economic.

Condie is just a Bushie lapdog. She really should get out of politics and back to teaching and playing the piano.

We live on the border of Canada, lots of people go across the border, 45 minutes drive, so buy our drugs, been going on for years, no-one had a fatality!
Their drugs are the same standard as the U.S. only about 50% cheaper, the only way to go!
They here in the States they are trying to discourage that, guess WHY? Profit loss, what else!

Yes. Isn’t it strange that drugs in Canada are unsafe and most of them come from the same pharmaceutical companies.
So if you get it here or there the same company made it. Its not like Canada has a bunch of different drug manufacturers.

DISAGREE! Yet our government will allow the passing of the drugs right thru our country from mexico to canada via the nafta superhighway (thanks to our tax dollars) and we still won’t have the option of buying them for cheaper ourselves.

I think she did. But she was incorrect as that is where some of our medicine and most of Mexico medicines are made.Labels are just changed.

There is a book called the Krasnik Conspiracy that says that the GOVT believes that terrorists are going to or have already bought into pharmaceutical companies in Canada and are just waiting for our govt to legalize imports of scrips from Canada and then they are going to poison us.

It would make more sense to worry about the reservoirs in my opinion. But that book is interesting and I have NO CLUE Why I picked it up this one day. I was in the library looking for something else and just happened to see it so I put it in my stack of books to check out.

The govt seems overly paranoid but I’m sure that our "intelligence" people are coming up with this stuff, hopefully for good reason.

But that is the reason why the govt won’t allow drugs from CAnada.

    :-)
    Peace y’all
